How to Prepare for Your Salon Appointment
Tips from our master stylists on reference photos, hair washing before color, patch testing, and consultation etiquette.
1. Preparing for Hair Colour & Balayage
One of the most common questions is whether to wash your hair before a colouring session. We recommend arriving with day-old, dry hair. Having natural scalp oils acts as a natural protective barrier against slight tingling during lightening, but hair should not have heavy dry shampoo or root touch-up sprays applied.
Please bring 2 to 3 reference images of looks you love, as well as images of looks you dislike. Visual references help our colorists calibrate your desired tone, brightness, and dimension against your natural starting base.
2. Patch Tests for First-Time Colour Clients
Your safety is our absolute priority. If you have never had professional colour at Luméa Studio or are undergoing a dramatic tone shift, we perform a complimentary 5-minute skin sensitivity patch test behind the ear 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
3. Preparing for Facials & Skincare
To ensure your skin receives maximum benefit from enzyme exfoliants and ultrasonic hydration:
- Discontinue strong prescription retinoids or AHAs/BHAs 48 hours before your facial.
- Men receiving facials should shave at least 8 to 12 hours beforehand to prevent freshly shaved skin from stinging under active serums.
- Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning immediately prior to your session.
Arrival & Punctuality
We recommend arriving 5 to 10 minutes before your slot. This gives you time to store your belongings, choose your complimentary beverage (espresso, green tea, or sparkling water), and complete your personalized preference card.
4. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
We understand that work schedules change unexpectedly. We kindly ask for at least 4 hours' notice for rescheduling or cancellations so that we can open the slot to waitlisted guests.
